DR. ELION'S PLATFORM
GIVE OUR STUDENTS A CHANCE TO THRIVE
Quality Educational Opportunities and Literacy:
Addressing literacy and providing quality educational opportunities for students that extend beyond traditional classrooms is key. By promoting literacy as a fundamental component of education, we can empower individuals, strengthen communities, and build a more inclusive and prosperous society for all.
Mental Health of Students and Staff:
It is essential for schools to prioritize mental health support for both students and teachers. This can include providing access to counselors or therapists, offering mental health education and resources, promoting a positive and supportive school culture, and implementing policies that reduce stress and promote work-life balance for teachers and staff. It is important that we inform and educate family and stakeholders about mental health issues so that they can support the students and staff in the provision of services to ensure mental health needs.
Competitive Pay for Teachers and Staff:
Teacher and staff pay is a crucial aspect of education systems as it directly impacts the quality of students’ educational experiences and the overall well-being of educators. We must have competitive wages for all staff members as we work towards eliminating teacher shortages and increasing employee retention rates.
Safety and Infrastructure:
Addressing student safety and aging infrastructure in schools is essential for creating an environment conducive to learning where students can thrive. Issues include mitigation of lead and mold threats. Any air conditioning or heating problems must be ameliorated. Special attention must be directed to enhance school safety for students and staff.
